The last couple of weeks have definitely seen big changes in the way we live our lives. As we become more and more physically isolated from each other, it is easy to lose touch and withdraw into our own little worlds.

Today is Passion Sunday and our readings for this week emphasise the image of Jesus as the suffering servant of God, obedient to the end, even if that means death on a cross.
In our Philippians reading, the Apostle Paul tells us “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus…he made himself nothing, by taking the very nature of a servant.”

You may feel like it is hard to serve others when you are isolated in your home, but lets remember that Paul wrote this letter to the church in Philippi, along with others, while he was a prisoner in Rome. He was isolated from his friends, his colleagues and the churches he founded, but he still found a way to serve!

The way we serve today may look different to how it did yesterday, but we can still serve. Use social media and your phone to keep in touch with people. Check on neighbours who live alone or who may be vulnerable. And remember, you are serving the whole community by simply staying at home as much as you can.
